The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is at the east side of the Mediterranean, surrounded by Israel, Syria, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. At the time of my trip, the whole area is in tumoil, with war in Syria, ISIS running over Syria and Iraq, Al Qaeda helping in the overthrow of Yemen, Saudi Arabia and others bombing the heck out of Yemen. Almost 1 million refugees have fled from Syria and Iraq into Jordan, causing additional stress and budget problems.
