Cinco de Mayo in Finland

It is Ascension Day which is celebrated in Europe and is a day off here.  What does this mean for us?  Restaurant in hotel opens late so we got no breakfast.  The mall next to hotel opens late.  The underground parking lot for the mall is shut down.  Our car is in the underground parking lot of the mall that is closed.  It is a half mile hike since we can’t walk through the mall and have to hike around it.  When we finally got the car out, nobody was walking or driving or riding bikes across the street in front of us so we got to work in record time.

Being from Texas, we are all scared to eat Mexican food or Tex-Mex in Finland so we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with cinco Finnish beers at an Italian restaurant.

When I told Felicia that Finland was closed for a holiday today, she asked “they close down in Finland for Cinco de Mayo?”
